You can't keep up with AI. Stop trying.

Watch on YouTubeAI Overload
Hey everyone, this is Allan. I’ve been hearing from friends and a family member that they can’t keep up with all the AI news. Every day there’s a new launch, Google I/O, new updates from OpenAI, dozens of open‑source models, tools like Higgs Field for video creation, and Remotion. It feels like there’s just too much content for anyone to follow. My cousin even told me he’s tired of everything being about AI. I’m not trying to ride the hype; I want to talk about a real problem I see and maybe offer some thoughts on how to deal with it.
Attention Bottleneck
I read a newsletter from Cal Newport that used a construction analogy. If you have a team building houses and the roofing crew is the slowest part, adding more workers to the foundation and walls won’t speed up the overall process. The roof remains the bottleneck. Our attention works the same way, we have limited time and mental capacity, so we can’t keep up with every AI development. We’re the bottleneck, and there’s no way to avoid AI content entirely.
Reducing Stimulation
Danko also wrote about stimulation, suggesting we intentionally reduce the amount of content we consume. He recommends disconnecting, taking walks, and giving ourselves time to digest what we’ve read before moving on to more. I agree, we’re overstimulated by AI, and we need space to process what we’re learning.
Focus on One Project
Today I was working on two projects at once, using Cloud Code for bug fixes on both. I realized that while AI could help solve problems, I can only give my full attention to one project at a time. To produce quality work, I need to focus on a single task. Cal Newport’s newsletter also reminded me to concentrate on work that moves the needle. Sometimes using AI just creates more low‑value tasks because it doesn’t address the real bottleneck.
Choose Your Leverage
When AI is used as a lever on a poorly organized system, it amplifies the mess instead of delivering results. That’s why I’ve chosen to focus on programming with AI and Cloud Code. I’m not chasing the latest video‑generation tools or design APIs, even though they’re popular. My limited time forces me to narrow my focus, and I’d advise others to do the same.
Keep Fundamentals
For example, I have a script that edits videos, and I’ll make a few tweaks rather than learning every new video‑creation tool. By concentrating on the fundamentals of my core work, building AI‑powered systems, I can stay effective without being pulled in every direction. Once you understand the foundation, you’ll recognize which AI developments truly matter for your work and which are just variations.
That’s all for today.
