Why I'm doing an Ultralearning project on business frameworks
May 10, 2026
Watch on YouTubeHey everyone, this is Allan. I’m not recording at 11 a.m. today because I learned my lesson yesterday.
Why Ultra Learning
I’ve decided to start an ultra‑learning project right now. Having the technical skills of a typical developer isn’t enough anymore. AI can code faster than I can, and I need to be the one who directs it better. The usual developer role, receiving orders and executing tasks, just doesn’t cut it. I need to improve how I plan, how I structure solutions, and how I tackle business problems. It’s not just about software; I have to learn to identify and craft better solutions. The word “craft” is important to me.
I bought a system‑design course a few days ago, and I’m using it as a springboard to get better at business‑area frameworks.
Definition
I define ultra‑learning based on Scott Young’s book Ultralearning. It’s a self‑directed learning method aimed at developing a skill in less time than usual. If you, like me, don’t have the luxury of a traditional college timeline, ultra‑learning makes sense.
Inspiration
My main inspiration is Bruno Fajion from Brazil. He runs a Portuguese YouTube channel where he breaks down business models, creates frameworks, and divides problems into smaller parts to analyze how a business could work or make money from them. Bruno also runs an English business called Crafting Cases, where he teaches people how to pass case‑interview challenges. Those interviews are tough and require specific skills, so I know the path won’t be easy. I’m not aiming to pass a case interview myself, but I need those skills to become a better service provider. Bruno mentioned in a podcast that learning those skills essentially means preparing for such an interview, which is why I’m following his content.
Learning Plan
I’ll read the same books, consume the same material, and even watch the free Crafting Cases course that Bruno and his partner offer. I’m learning as I go; this isn’t a formal classroom project. I know I know almost nothing about this area, so I’ll have to spend time planning the ultra‑learning project the way a typical project is planned. If you haven’t read the book, I recommend it.
Timeline
I’m focusing on this while I continue my work and build a personal brand, aiming to finish by the end of the year. I don’t have time to wait, I need to make money faster, so I’m not delaying this any longer.
Balancing Skills
As a software engineer, I’ll keep sharpening my programming fundamentals because I don’t want to outsource my thinking and understanding to AI.
That’s it for today. See you in the next video.
