My videos aren't good enough yet. Here's the plan.

Watch on YouTubeHey everyone, this is Allan. In today’s video I want to talk about something I thought of after yesterday’s video. If you haven’t watched that one yet, check it out first so you understand this better.
Channel Analysis
I went back and analyzed my last fifty videos and noticed a few problems that are holding the channel back. YouTube is actually delivering my videos to new audiences, my channel has thousands of impressions even though I have only a small number of subscribers. The issue is my click‑through rate (CTR). It’s consistently below one or two percent. I’ve concluded that the low CTR is mainly caused by my thumbnails and titles.
Titles
Every guide on improving CTR says you need better thumbnails and better titles. I’ve built a tool in Cloud Code that generates titles from patterns and templates that seem to work. My goal with titles is to be catchy without being misleading. I don’t want to promise anything I can’t deliver, so I base each title on the video transcription. I don’t see much room for improvement there right now, so I’ll keep doing what I’m doing.
Thumbnails
A while ago someone messaged me on Instagram offering to create thumbnails for me. He used AI, and the results looked much better than the default thumbnails I usually get from YouTube. I’m grateful for that, but I’m not convinced I want to rely on AI‑generated thumbnails. I want my content to feel more human, even though I talk about AI a lot. Right now my thumbnails are low quality because I just use the webcam frame YouTube picks randomly. In the future I plan to take my own photos and create thumbnails in Photoshop, since I know how to use it. I don’t want my thumbnails to look like everyone else’s.
Retention
I also need to improve retention on my videos. That comes down to two things: better audiovisual quality and higher‑quality content. I need to work on my audio, my speaking style, and the way I explain concepts. If the content is high quality, retention should improve, even if the thumbnails and titles are still simple.
Audio Upgrade
I’m focusing right now on improving my speech and the overall quality of my videos. Yesterday I set a goal of making $10,000 a month online using my developer skills, freelancing, and info products. That’s a mid‑ to long‑term goal. Today I realized the first concrete step is to upgrade my audio. I’m currently using my webcam microphone, so I’m planning to buy a proper microphone. I’ve set a target of $200 for a good mic and I’ll fund it through my online work, not from my developer income in Brazil. I’ll be looking for English‑speaking clients who don’t already know me.
Short‑Term Goal
I’m documenting this journey so you can see the steps I take. In the coming days and weeks I’ll share how I raise the audio quality and track the impact on the channel. When I eventually have a better microphone, you’ll have gone through that process with me.
That’s it for today.
