I'm mentoring for free. It's fixing my framework

Watch on YouTubeMentoring Call
Hey everyone, this is Allan. Today I had a call with a friend I’m mentoring, teaching him how to use AI in his business.
Identifying Gaps
During the call we fixed his NATN connection to Google Calendar. It wasn’t configured correctly, so I walked him through the steps and we solved the problem. While doing that, I realized he had a lot of basic questions, how to manage his context window, simple commands, how to change the model in Cloud Code. Those are things I take for granted because I already know them, but I hadn’t taught him any of that.
Learning by Teaching
That gap made me see that I should have started with a document or a video class covering those fundamentals. I’m learning that the best way to know if you really understand something, or to structure your content better, is to give it away for free. By mentoring my friend for free, I’m forced to clarify my framework, spot problems, and improve the material.
Free First, Then Paid
I’m noticing both the shortcomings I need to fix and the unexpected benefits that are already helping him. This is a classic “building in public” moment: I’m learning that the best way to start is by offering a free service, creating quality material, and then later turning it into a paid mentoring program. It’s been a good opportunity, and I’m learning a lot from it.
