I built an API-first system for Claude Code (not humans)

Midnight Update

Hey everyone, this is Allan. It’s almost midnight, and I didn’t record at the usual time, so I’ll just talk about one thing that’s been on my mind today.

System Overview

I have a system that my associate Danilo uses for one of his clients. I wouldn’t call it a SaaS product yet; it’s a system I built for him and his client is using it right now. It has the potential to grow and attract more users, so it could become a SaaS in the future. That may take time, but that’s fine, I’ve already been paid for creating the system.

API Development

While working on the system, I learned that Danilo needed cloud code integrated with it. For the first time I built a version that can be accessed via an API, just as a human would use the front end. The initial release is a read‑only API for AI agents to access. Danilo asked for more functionality, so I’m planning to make the system truly API‑first. The front end and back end were originally built without AI in mind, but I’ll expand the API functions so cloud code can operate, and any AI can use them.

Future Outlook

I think this project will teach me a lot because I believe more systems will be used by AI agents rather than directly by humans. AI agents that people subscribe to will delegate tasks to these systems, so we’ll see more software designed for AI interaction instead of being built from scratch for human users.

Next Steps

Tomorrow, Sunday, I’ll work on expanding the API and will try to bring back an honest review of how the process went and whether the plan worked.

That’s it for today. Thanks.
