Code is a way to build my ideas

Using Chatwood

Hey everyone, this is Allan. I’m recording with my phone today because I’m trying something new. I have two phone numbers, and I’m using Chatwood to connect both of them. With Chatwood I no longer need WhatsApp Web or the Windows app. It’s much better to have both WhatsApp accounts in a single window, and it’s more stable, my WhatsApp used to disconnect constantly, but Chatwood works much better.

Forking the Project

Chatwood is open source, so I forked it and started modifying it for my own needs. I’ve already made some UI changes to simplify the interface, and I’m now tweaking other annoyances I’ve found. I’m doing all of this while dealing with a headache, so I won’t make this video too long, I just wanted to share what I’m working on.

Open Source & AI

Working with open source lets me change exactly what I need, and maybe others will benefit too. I’m using AI to help with the modifications because I don’t have time to write all the code manually. I’m not planning to submit pull requests; the AI‑generated changes are for my personal version, and I don’t want to burden the original maintainers with low‑quality contributions.

Coding vs Building

This process has reminded me that I value building ideas more than writing code. I got into programming to create things, and code is just a means to an end for me. I enjoy studying and writing code, but I prefer to focus on building solutions and delivering results. That’s all for today.
