Bad days are for organizing, not creating.

Motivation Cycles

Everybody says you can’t rely on motivation, but when you know how to use it you can get a lot done, more than you thought at first. I realized a few years ago that my motivation and energy levels are cyclical. Some days I feel highly motivated, then the level drops, then rises again. It’s a constant up‑and‑down cycle.

Using High Energy

Because I can’t depend on motivation alone, I’m building more discipline to get the necessary work done. When my energy is high I try to “spearhead” into my tasks, pushing forward as far as possible. I even compare it to the anime 86, where the name “spearhead” fits how I want to advance.

Low Energy Days

On days when my energy is low, I slow down and focus on organizing. I use that time to tidy up the work I’ve already done, making sure everything is in order.

Today’s Focus

I’m recording this because today wasn’t a great day for me. I didn’t sleep well, woke up before sunrise, and felt unwell. Instead of trying to push hard, I spent the day organizing my “second brain” and the low‑tested product I’m building. The product is based on the same system I use with my clients, and today I refined it and made it better.

I didn’t read much or write much, just the minimum. There’s still an hour left until midnight, so I might read before I take a shower.

Takeaway

Use your energy levels to your advantage. When you’re high on energy, advance as much as possible. When you’re not feeling well, slow down and focus on organizing the progress you made during your high‑energy periods. That’s it for today.
