Maslow for Business

I saw a video by Bruno Fajon, who talks about Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and applies it to businesses. He explains the classic pyramid, survival needs first, then safety, belonging, esteem, and finally self‑actualization. In his business version, the first level is cash flow and revenue, which he calls the “license to operate.” The next levels are profit margins, recurring revenue/LTV, and finally culture and mission.

Reorganizing My Business

I realized I was stuck at the survival level. Bruno says cash flow is the oxygen of a business; if it runs out, nothing above it matters. So I focused on fixing my cash flow. My strength is providing services as a freelancer, and AI is a lever, not a replacement. I used AI to research what I could do, and I reached out to friends who are better at selling.

Immediate Actions

After watching the video, I contacted people I’d worked with before and closed three deals. It wasn’t luck; it was the clarity that came from fixing the cash flow first. I had been thinking about building my brand, increasing LTV, and creating info products, but I hadn’t secured the basic cash flow needed for survival.

Lessons Learned
