Sit down and actually do the work
January 11, 2026
That's what became clear to me this week. For months I have been anxious about my work. It seemed like I was stuck.
But in reality I was just lazy. My inability to take action was not because I was not prepared. I just wasted too much time searching for the perfect plan instead of sitting down and actually doing the work.
I only realized this when I tried to time-block my routine into three categories for some days. Using a pomodoro timer that I'd built for myself.
The strategy itself is separating all the daily actions into three major areas:
Building: Studying something new, coding what could become a product in the future, watching a class, reading a book, etc.
Promoting: Finding new clients, making content (just like this text), recording a video, sharing on social media with build-in-public strategies.
Delivering: Doing the work for current clients, the actions that bring money now.
I learned this classification from Alex Hormozi and made some adaptations to fit my routine as a developer.
And what really made the difference is my custom timer called "The Boring Clock". The idea behind it is to track the time focused on each category during the day.
If you want to try it btw, check out this url theboringclock.com.
Using it for just a few days showed me that I was working a lot less than I thought. I was also wasting a lot of time on breaks, and not being focused for long enough on similar tasks. And that is a big problem, context switching drives me crazy.
